Ducati Desmosedici RR

Ducati has set the bar with the birth of the Desmosedici RR (Racing Replica). The RR is the closest one can get to riding an actually GP bike while remaining street legal. The Italian powerhouse develops a mind blowing 200-horse power at 13,800 rpms. The body is constructed completely of carbon fiber bringing the dry weight down to 377 pounds, giving this bike a great power to weight ratio. The bike’s L-twin desmodromic V4 engine puts out just under 1000cc at 989. Ducati stayed with Brembo brakes and Öhlins suspension on the RR and added Marchesini forged magnesium alloy wheels. The bike comes in two color schemes, Red with white number plates on the tail section as seen in the attached photo and Red with a broad white fairing stripe. One glimpse at the price tag automatically excludes myself from ever obtaining such a work of art. The Desmosedici RR can be purchased for $72,500 US dollars, if you can even find one. Rumor has it that within the first five hours of sales, 500 of the 1500 produced had already found homes. The Desmosedici RR is a dream come true to any Ducati enthusiast. Needless to say, if you are lucky and wealthy enough to own one, the likelihood of ever pushing this bike to its limits are slim unless you are Nicky Hayden or Mika Kallio and have track like conditions. The purchase of the bike includes a 3 year warranty and servicing, racing exhaust, and a decal kit. For more on the Desmosedici RR visit www.ducati.com.
